Ashdown to become patron of CMSM

Lord Ashdown had become a patron of the Combined Military Services Museum in Maldon, Essex - the home of one of the best English Civil War collections in the UK  ...

The peer became aware of the museum, which is run privately, during research for a book on the Cockleshell Heroes raid of 1942 (the CMSM houses the only surviving canoe from the raid).

The 17th century collection includes armour, swords, polearms, muskets and clothing, which can be seen Wednesday to Sunday, Bank Holiday Mondays and every day during school holidays. The museum also caters for education groups.
