Royal College of Physicians exhibition

The Royal College of Physicians, London

An exhibition detailing the exploits of fellows of the Royal College of Physicians during the Civil War is currently running in London ...

'An end to good manners': The Royal College of Physicians and the English Civil War explores fellows' differing allegiances using rare material from the RCP's historical collections, and will run until 15th March 2012.

William Harvey features prominently. Harvey was physician to Charles I from the early 1630s, attending the king at Oxford during the relocation of the Royalist headquarters in the 1640s. He was the also first person to detail the systemic circulation and properties of blood being pumped around the body.
